ARTISTIC IMAGES OF LAKE CHAMPLAIN by Mary Zompetti
Mary Zompetti is a photo-based artist currently living and working in rural Grand Isle, Vermont. Zompetti holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Her work has been nationally and internationally exhibited; in 2015, in a solo exhibition Negative/Positiveat the Mjólkurbúðin Gallery in Akureyri, Iceland; in 2014 at the A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn, NY for the Biennial Making and Taking: Pictures Reconsidered curated by Nancy Princenthal; and in 2017 in the Annual Juried Show at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA. She is a multi-year recipient of the Vermont Arts Council Artist Development Grant and was a Guest Artist in Akureyri, Iceland in 2014 and 2015. She is currently exploring ideas of home and place/displacement and was recently awarded a Arts Endowment Grant from the Vermont Community Foundation to continue her photographic series 45 Degrees North in Grand Isle County, VT in 2017-2018.
